OED LEED Silver certification is one more step in Waterton's commitment to the environment
Chicago, IL – One East Delaware, a luxury apartment
community owned by Waterton Residential in Chicago’s
prestigious Gold Coast neighborhood, has earned the first
multifamily LEED EB Silver certification in Chicago from the U.S.
Green Building Council. One East Delaware is the third largest
community in the country to earn this certification.
To earn national accreditation for Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design, Existing Buildings, One East Delaware’s
operations and maintenance standards had to meet those established
by the USGBC. These standards include energy and water efficiency,
an advanced degree of indoor environmental quality, sustainable
purchasing and innovation in operations. Points were also earned
for access to alternative commuting transportation and green
cleaning.
One East Delaware has 306 rental residences offering studio,
convertible, one- and two-bedroom apartments and parking. Each
residence is equipped with an energy efficient appliance package
and features dramatic city views with floor to ceiling windows in
the living areas and from the large private balconies. Community
amenities include a fully equipped fitness center, a sundeck and
24-hour door service. Community conveniences include an on-site
Potash Brothers grocery, Starbucks®, More Cupcakes, Salon Buzz
and Tails in the City, among others.
One East Delaware’s unparalleled location in the heart of
Gold Coast neighborhood provides easy access to shopping on the
Magnificent Mile, innumerable restaurants and clubs and is within
walking distance to the lakefront, public transportation and the
central business district.
"Waterton Residential is honored to achieve the very first LEED
Silver certification in Chicago for an existing residential rental
high-rise," said Peter Vilim, Co-Founder of Waterton Residential.
"This recognition comes as a result of our long-term commitment to
environmental sustainability and to providing a higher quality of
life for our residents, and as a result of more than a year of
efforts from our executive team and the best consultants in the
industry."
"With each new LEED-certified building, we get one step closer
to USGBC’s vision of a sustainable built environment within a
generation," said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding
Chair, U.S. Green Building Council. "As the newest member of the
LEED family of green buildings, One East Delaware is an important
addition to the growing strength of the green building
movement."
Waterton Residential continues to extend its commitment to the
environment as the lead corporate sponsor of the Garfield Park
Conservatory. The Garfield Park Conservatory is owned and
maintained by the Chicago Park District and houses over 1,000
unique plants within a 4.5-acre series of greenhouses.

high-rises -- Presidential Towers, One East Delaware, River North
Park and Mondial -- are within an easy public commuting reach of
this urban oasis," said Vilim.
